Wellington 3rd XI got a thirty four overs per side game last weekend in Division Seven Red of the Somerset League at Huish and Langport as they left home in teeming rain, but the climate was more conducive to cricket further east.
A start was made at 2.15pm and the game never stopped thereafter and it was the hosts who batted first and they found both Tyler Fyfe and Ollie Hunt in good form with the new ball as they reduced the home side to 16-3.
Soakell and Roberts turned the home side's innings back round as they added 47 fourth wicket runs in good style before Connor Wickenden got in on the act as he delivered his left arm spinners with good effect to take 3-30 in seven overs.
Wickets for Richard Henwood and Ryan Henwood pretty much mopped up the Huish and Langport innings that closed on 151-9 in 34 overs with Banks making 30.
Simon Burrough and David Derrick added ten for the first wicket before Wellington's third string found their innings was on the skids as they dipped to 27-6 with Banks taking three wickets in one over and Jenkinson being accurate from the other end.
The trio of Tyler Fyfe with 12, Ryan Henwood with 20 and Cam Sentance with 24 added some good solid hitting later on and this improved the side's total somewhat, but the end came with over seven overs going unused.
Wellington claimed 13 points and lie fifth in the table and have four games to play.
